Abu’l-Hasan Asaf Khan was also given the title of Asaf Khan by the mughal emperor Jahangir. He was the Grand Vizier or Prime Minister of the mughal emperor Shah Jahan. He was also appointed as the vakil (Vakil-i-Mutalq) during the reign of Jahangir.
Abu’l-Hasan was the father of Arjumand Banu Begum who was later known as Mumtaz Mahal after getting married to Shah Jahan. He was also the older brother of Nur Jahan who was the Empress Consort of Mughal Empire and wife of Jahangir.
