Overview

Sarojini Nagar was established around 1950s located in south west Delhi. Before the current name, its name was Vinay Nagar or Beena Nagar. It was named after Sarojini Naidu, a famous Indian freedom fighter and poet. The market is surrounded by Safdarjung Enclave, Laxmibai Nagar, Nauroji Nagar, Chanakyapuri, Netaji Nagar and South Extension. Sarojini Nagar is very close to the Safdarjung Airport. It is located in the locality of Chanakyapuri. Sarojini Nagar Market is known and mostly famous for cheap flea shops.

Sarojini Nagar is adjoined by the government housing and colonies.

It was the part of “29 October 2005 Delhi bombings”. This mishappening occurred on 29th october 2005 in Delhi where resulted in the killing of 62 people and injuring of more than 200 people.

Sabzi Market is located in the south end of Sarojini Nagar. As the name says, it is famous for fresh fruits and vegetables at a reasonable price. The Babu Market: Babu Market is in the north-west corner of the market. Some famous shops in Babu market are Chacha Saree, Lalaji ki Dukan (Kurta Pajama shop), Keval ki Toy Shop, Neelgagan Stationery, Kumar Dentist etc. Most of the shops are surrounded in rows facing each other and mostly these are cloth shops.
