Akbarnama – Biography of Akbar written by Abul Fazl

Akbar commissioned one of his nine jewels from his court and biographer Abu’l-Fazl ibn Mubarak to write Akbarnama. This book is the official chronicle of Akbar’s reign who served the Mughal Empire from 1556 to 1605.

Akbarnama was written in Persian, the formal language of the Mughals. It includes the detailed descriptions of his life and reign following the book Baburnama, which has the more personal life details of  his grandfather Babur who had founded the Mughal Empire.
